Member Types
Chair
The leadership role within a vCAB. There should typically be only one chair per vCAB.
| Capability | Description |
| Voting | Yes - vote counts toward approval |
| Veto Power | Optional - can instantly reject changes |
The chair's special powers are configured at the vCAB level (see [Chair Powers](./04-chair-powers.md)).
Voting Member
Standard members with full voting rights.
| Capability | Description |
| Voting | Yes - vote counts toward approval |
| Veto Power | No |
Mandatory Members
Any member (Chair or Voting) can be marked as **mandatory**. When the vCAB has "Require All Mandatory Members" enabled:
- The change cannot be approved or rejected until all mandatory members have voted
- This ensures key stakeholders always participate in decisions
- Pending mandatory votes block final decisions even if thresholds are met
Example
A vCAB with 5 voting members and 2 mandatory members:
- Even if 4 members approve (meeting a majority threshold)
- If one mandatory member hasn't voted, the decision is held
- Once all mandatory members vote, the decision is finalized
Setting Member Roles
Roles are selected within the CAB memers section whilst creating the CAB group.
Custom roles can be created and assigned to members as well in this section.
