Progress Update

Change Management
Updated Dec 27, 2025

Overview

The Progress Update Update feature allows you to send real-time status updates to all stakeholders while a change is in progress. This keeps everyone informed about progress, delays, or issues without leaving the platform.

When to Use It

Use Progress Update Updates when:

  • You encounter an unexpected issue during implementation
  • The change is taking longer than expected
  • You want to provide a progress checkpoint
  • You need to initiate a rollback
  • A previously reported issue has been resolved

How It Works

  1. Navigate to the change detail page for an In Progress change
  2. Click the Progress Update button (amber/yellow button)
  3. Review the recipients:
    - To: Change creator, technical approver, and operational approve
    - CC: Any stakeholders from the notification list
  4. Select a Quick Template or write your own message
  5. Click Send Update
All recipients will receive an email notification with your update, and a Teams notification will be sent if configured.

Quick Templates

To save time, we've included pre-written templates for common scenarios:
Template When to use
Unexpected Issue
Something has gone wrong and you're investigating
Delay Expected
Implementation is taking longer than planned
Progress Update
Regular status update on what's done and what's remaining
Rollback Initiated
You need to revert the change
Issue Resolved

Simply click a template button to populate the message field, then customise the bracketed placeholders with your specific details.

Visibility

The Progress Update button only appears when a change has the status In Progress. Once a change is completed, failed, or cancelled, this option is no longer available.
