Unanimous
All voting members must approve.
| Outcome | Condition |
| Approved | All members vote Approve |
| Rejected | Any member votes Reject |
| Pending | Votes still outstanding |
Use Cases
- High-risk changes requiring full consensus
- Security-sensitive modifications
- Changes affecting critical infrastructure
- ✅ Approved: 4 approve, 0 reject
- ❌ Rejected: 3 approve, 1 reject
- ⏳ Pending: 3 approve, 1 pending
Majority
More than half of voting members must approve.
The exact threshold depends on whether Chair Breaks Ties is enabled:
| Members | Required Approvals | Formula |
| 2 | 2 | (2 ÷ 2) + 1 = 2 |
| 3 | 2 | (3 ÷ 2) + 1 = 2 |
| 4 | 3 | (4 ÷ 2) + 1 = 3 |
| 5 | 3 | (5 ÷ 2) + 1 = 3 |
With Tie-Breaking Enabled
Requires 50% or more since ties are resolved by the chair.
| Members | Required Approvals | Formula |
| 2 | 1 | (2 + 1) ÷ 2 = 1 |
| 3 | 2 | (3 + 1) ÷ 2 = 2 |
| 4 | 3 | (4 + 1) ÷ 2 = 2 |
| 5 | 3 | (5 + 1) ÷ 2 = 3 |
Rejection Threshold
A change is rejected when it becomes mathematically impossible to reach the approval threshold.
Example (4 members, need 3 approvals):
2 reject → Only 2 possible approvals remain → Rejected
Use Cases
- Standard changes requiring team consensus
-
Balanced decision-making with reasonable threshold
Quorum
A specific number of approvals is required.
| Setting | Effect |
| Quorum Count: 2 | 2 approvals needed to pass |
| Quorum Count: 3 | 3 approvals needed to pass |
Rejection Threshold
A change is rejected when there aren't enough remaining voters to reach quorum.
Example (5 members, quorum of 3):
3 reject, Only 2 possible approvals remain → Rejected
- Large advisory boards where full participation isn't expected
- Changes that need minimum oversight but not majority
- Flexible approval for lower-risk changes
Comparison Table
| Type | Threshold | Best For |
| Unanimous | 100% | High-risk, critical changes |
| Majority | >50% or ≥50% | Standard team decisions |
| Quorum | Fixed count | Large boards, flexible approval |
